Collaboration Digital Hub and the GKN (Communal Nuclear Energy Netherlands)

‘I really like the flexible, proactive approach’

“We clicked immediately,” says site manager Dick Kers. On behalf of the BV Communal Nuclear Power Plant Netherlands (GKN), he and two colleagues maintain the Dodewaard nuclear power plant and ensure that it can be safely dismantled in 2045 according to the current planning. “Digital Hub struck the right tone, they responded very adequately from the first moment and know exactly what needs to be done and when.”

The BV Communal Nuclear Power Plant Netherlands (GKN) was founded in 1965 as owner and operator of the Dodewaard nuclear power plant. “The nuclear power plant is currently in safe containment,” says site manager Dick Kers. Due to radioactive decay, the nuclear power plant can easily be dismantled in 2045 according to plan. “We monitor the Building Management System, as well as the air conditioning system and radiation measurement equipment. In the meantime, the site must also be secured.”

Right one show

Digital Hub turned out to be the ideal ICT specialist in the region in 2010 when the GKN was looking for it. “They hit the right tone, responded very adequately from the first moment and know exactly what needs to be done and when. When at one point part of the control equipment of the building management system – crucial for our nuclear power plant – failed, Digital Hub already thought along with us which solution would work best. I really like their flexible, proactive approach. We still enjoy working together to this day.”

Quality and service-oriented

“The activities of Digital Hub vary considerably, from delivering a computer to keeping a complete network up and running. In the event of a malfunction in the installation, our employees are warned via their telephone, among other things. If that system does not work, it is very annoying, also because the laws and regulations in the field of nuclear energy are rightly quite strict.”

That is why Dick Kers praises the quality and service orientation that he believes Digital Hub stands for. “They think along with us. The ICT world certainly does not stand still, and the Digital Exchange responds proactively to us. They indicate which possible developments and improvements are coming in the near future, and how we can tackle them.”
